This is not just another book of pictures but a wonderful gift of inspirational photography taken high above, from a bird’s-eye view, in our beautiful Lithuanian skies
These photographs capture the true essence and beauty of Lithuania and accentuate our most proud and prestigious cities, public events, recognizable landmarks and well known places of interest through each of the four seasons.
The original concept started a few years ago with the acquisition of a radio controlled aeroplane. After refining the design it was eventually improved to the point where it was capable of safely lifting a camera to the desired height and maintaining a steady flight path.
Almost all of these pictures are taken from a Lithuanian made radio controlled model called “Šarka”. This RC plane is some two meters in length and is capable of carrying a lightweight camera mounted at various different angles. The plane weighs just two kilograms and is designed to travel up to 30 kilometres during each flight. It has also been designed so that it can be easily disassembled to fit neatly into the boot of a car.
Enhanced by a flight stabilisation system, the plane is capable of a stable glide, even under heavy winds. A navigation system also prevents it from getting lost in a new environment, and on board video equipment broadcasts live images directly back to the ground.
